The seventh edition of Kochi Public Transport Day (KPTD) was held on August 6, 2018. As part of the observance day, Kerala Transport Minister A K Saseendran, Ernakulam MLA Hibi Eden and Kerala Transport Commissioner K Padmakumar boarded the metro from Edappally Metro Station to Maharaja’s College Metro station. During the ride, they inspected the functioning of metro services and interacted with metro commuters and officials.

“Our collaborative efforts for an initiative like Kochi Public Transport Day will attract more people to switch from their private vehicles which will in turn reduce traffic congestion in the city,” the transport minister said. MLA Hibi Eden commented that the campaign will generate a new positive culture among the residents in the city and encourage them to utilize public transport.

Transport Commissioner K Padmakumar remarked that awareness and interest among the public in a sustainable public transport system is crucial for bringing about change. “The involvement of government authorities and officials in the observance day activities will surely motivate the common man to use public transport,” CPPR Chairman D Dhanuraj remarked.

Ernakulam Regional Transport Officer Jojy P Jose, KMRL MD APM Mohammed Hanish and other transport officials also attended the event.
